"Education is always about change. In schools, we are inclined to look for relatively short-term change – in students and in those who teach them. This is important; it is the only way to assess strategies and outcomes against learning objectives. But arguably, the educator’s most important job is to prepare students to respond to and create change in the larger world. More than ever, if we fail to do that, we fail our students and the world they are moving into – even if we succeed in meeting prescribed learning objectives. "
